Include five details:

A complete prompt could be:

Act as a hotel receptionist in Mexico. I am a B1 Spanish learner checking in after the hotel has lost my reservation. Ask one question at a time. Stay in Spanish. During the role-play, ask for clarification when my meaning is unclear. Save language corrections until the end.

This prompt creates a situation with a problem to solve. It also prevents corrections from interrupting every turn.

Everyday conversation

Have a five-minute conversation with me in Spanish about weekend plans. I am at A2 level. Use short turns and ask follow-up questions based on my answers. At the end, give me three phrases that would make my answers clearer.

Work meeting

You are a colleague in a project meeting. I need to explain a two-week delay, give the reason, and propose a new deadline. Ask practical follow-up questions. Wait until the meeting ends before correcting my Spanish.

Opinion discussion

Discuss remote work with me in Spanish at B2 level. Take a different position from mine and ask me to support my claims with examples. Keep each turn under four sentences. Afterward, identify one strong argument and two unclear statements.

Storytelling

Ask me to tell a short story about a trip that went wrong. Ask about the order of events, the cause of the problem, and the result. After I finish, suggest five linking phrases I could use in a second attempt.

Clarification practice

Pretend you did not understand part of my answer whenever I use an unclear reference such as "it" or "that." Ask me to explain exactly what I mean. Do not rewrite my full answer during the conversation.

A 15-minute AI speaking session

Minutes 1 to 2: prepare

Choose the goal and note three phrases you may need. For a disagreement task, you might prepare Entiendo tu punto, pero..., Mi principal preocupación es... and ¿Has considerado...?

Minutes 3 to 8: complete the role-play

Speak without reading a complete script. Continue after small errors. Ask ¿Puedes repetir la pregunta? or Dame un momento para pensarlo when you need time.

Minutes 9 to 11: request limited feedback

For each suggested correction, ask:

• Did my original sentence communicate the intended meaning?
• Is the change required or simply another option?
• Does the wording match the country and situation?
• Can the system explain the grammar in clear terms?
• Can I confirm the phrase in a reliable source?

Separate errors from improvements. An error produces incorrect or misleading Spanish. An improvement may sound more concise, natural, formal, or regional while the original remains acceptable.

Protect private information

Avoid putting confidential work details, personal identifiers, medical records, financial information, passwords, or another person's private messages into a general AI tool. Replace names, companies, figures, and project details with fictional information.

Review the provider's current privacy and data-retention settings before using voice conversations. Policies differ and can change.

Test transfer to human conversation

AI practice becomes valuable when the skill works with a person. After several sessions, repeat a related task with a tutor, exchange partner, colleague, friend, or conversation group.

Track practical results:

• Did the other person understand the main point?
• Could you respond to an unexpected question?
• Did you ask for clarification when needed?
• Could you maintain the exchange without reading?
• Which phrases became available without preparation?

Bring one human difficulty back to the AI session as the next role-play goal.

Combine AI speaking with listening and review

Conversation requires understanding the other turn as well as producing your own. Use recordings with different speakers so that the chatbot's voice does not become your only listening model.

A useful sequence is:

Begin with a short summary. Then ask the AI to challenge you in stages:

3. Present a different viewpoint and ask you to respond.
4. Ask you to explain one part again using simpler language.

Repeat the conversation several days later without reviewing your first answers. This reveals which ideas and phrases remain available when the original material is no longer fresh.
